Carmel Gutter Solutionists
Gutters for Putnam County’s county seat
Carmel was formed as a town on March 17, 1795, while it was still part of Dutchess County, and when Putnam County was created in 1812, Carmel became its county seat. The hamlet of Carmel sits in the northeast corner of the town on the shore of Lake Gleneida. The Putnam County Court House on Gleneida Avenue went up in 1814 and is the second oldest working courthouse in New York State, and a bronze statue of Sybil Ludington, the 16-year-old said to have ridden through the night in April 1777 to rouse the militia, stands beside the lake. The Carmel post office also serves most of the neighboring Town of Kent, including Lake Carmel and the Kent Lakes area.
Our crews are based in Poughkeepsie on Page Park Drive and work Putnam County every week, so Carmel shares a route with our jobs around Mahopac. One crew does it all: hand cleaning, downspout flushing, leak and hanger repair, fascia replacement, seamless gutters formed in the driveway and BroGuard stainless micro-mesh. On two-story homes and steep lakeside roofs, 6-inch gutters carry a summer downpour and the spring melt without spilling over the edge. Each estimate is free and in writing.
Carmel averages about 42 inches of rain and melted snow per year (NOAA 1991 to 2020 normals at Dutchess County Airport near Poughkeepsie), with no dry stretch to speak of. Much of the area is hilly and wooded, with Lake Gleneida, Lake Carmel and other lakes close by, and many roofs sit under oaks, maples and pines. Plenty of lake homes stand on small lots, so a downspout has to be placed with care or it empties onto a walk, a neighbor or the foundation. Our maintenance program schedules a cleaning after the leaves fall and another after the spring seeds come down, so the gutters stay clear through winter.

Why the Brothers
Why Carmel Homeowners Call the Brothers
Tight lake lots need careful downspout placement. We plan where the water goes before we hang a run.
Oaks and pines shade much of Carmel. BroGuard plus a cleaning schedule keeps the trough flowing.
Snow loads and thaws pull on gutters. Every hanger goes into solid wood, spaced close for the weight.
Our crews are based in Poughkeepsie on Page Park Drive and serve Carmel hamlet, Lake Carmel and the rest of the 10512 area. Call (845) 223-6111 for a free written estimate in Carmel.

Posted on Google“Brothers-Gutters are professional, courteous, and reliable. As we get older and second-story ladders are less manageable, it’s great having them clean and maintain our gutters. We look forward to working with them in the future. Thanks, B-G!”

Twice a year covers most Carmel homes: a late fall visit after the last oak leaves are down but before the first hard freeze, and a late spring visit once the seeds and catkins finish. If pines lean over your roof, plan on a midsummer look as well, since needles keep falling long after the leaves stop.
Usually they need more thought about where the water goes. Many lake homes sit close to the water, a neighbor or a slope, so a downspout cannot just empty at the corner. We size the gutter to the roof, choose downspout spots that lead to open ground, and use extensions or underground drainage to carry water past walks and foundations.
Yes. On older homes around Gleneida Avenue we check the fascia and trim before anything else and replace boards that will not hold a fastener. Then each seamless run is formed on site to fit the eave exactly, so there are no joints along the front of the house. Tall, steep roofs often get 6-inch gutters to keep up with heavy rain.
Most of the time it is a mix of weight and weak fastening. Snow, ice and wet leaves load the gutter all winter, and hangers set into soft wood or spaced too far apart let go. We reset or replace the hangers, fix any rotted fascia behind them and keep the gutter clean going into winter so it carries less weight.
Yes. We serve the hamlet of Carmel around Lake Gleneida and the rest of the 10512 area, including Carmel Hills, Tilly Foster, Lake Carmel and Kent Lakes. Estimates are free and in writing, and one local team handles the job from the first walkthrough to the last downspout test.
